History of the Nurses Guild
In 1954, after the 21 pathfinders had materialized their dream, the Nurses Guild was established with approximately 300 church members while holding services in the Baptist Church on Joy Road near Clairmount with Pastor C.F. Stewart, presiding.
Later in 1957, the membership moved to North Baptist Church and the Nurses Guild grew under the leadership of Mrs. Cornelia Jones with the loving spirit of Rev. Carlyle F. Stewart and Rev. Darneau V. Stewart.
In 1980 the church membership honored the Nurses Guild by giving all the nurses an appreciation award for their faithful and devoted service. Under the leadership of Mrs. Cornelia Jones and others, the Guild grew. Now Mrs. Jones and many of the nurses have gone on to be with the Lord.
The Nurses Guild membership is now under Rev. Dr. Martin E. Bolton at the Historic People's Community Church. May we continue to grow in the loving spirit of the Lord.
