History of the Male Chorus

In 1963 , at there quest of Rev. Darneau Stewart, Mrs. Lutilla Combs established , and became the first director of our Male Chorus. Directors who followed Mrs. Combs included Mr. Clarence O'Neal, 1966 through 1974 ; Mr. Charles Jeter, Dr. Augustus Hill, Mr. Charles Garner and Ms. Beverly Glenn. Mr. Thornton became director of the Male Chorus in 1996 and continues in that capacity today.

The Male Chorus plays a significant role in the church's annual musical activities durning the Easter and Christmas seasons, plays a prominent role in the church's Adult Overnight Retreats, as well as the Men-Only Palm Sunday Breakfast. In addition, they continue to provide musical support for our worship service on a monthly basis.
